Motorcycle Officer Claude E. Branon was side-swiped by a speeder he was chasing in the 8800 block of the Gulf Freeway on January 13, 1959. He was paralyzed due to the on-duty mishap and died in St. Joseph's Hospital on March 20, 1959.
