"K-9" Officer
James Donald Harris had been flagged down by a citizen stating that
two males in a cutlass had tried to run him down. Officer Harris
located the vehicle in the 4900 block of Walker and ordered both
males to place their hands on the hood of his car. The passenger,
Robert Carrasco Flores, handed a 9mm handgun to the driver, Ricardo
Aldape Guerra. Guerra
then shot Officer Harris three times. A citizen was also shot and
killed by Guerra as he and Flores fled the scene. Flores was found
at the rear of 4911 Rusk. After seriously wounding Officer L.D.
Trepagnier, Flores was shot and killed by police. Officer Harris
was pronounced dead while en-route to Hermann Hospital. Recardo
Aldape Guerra was convicted of Capital Murder and sentenced to death
