On August 27, 1986, Officer
Jerry Stowe was seriously injured while responding to a loud music
disturbance call in the 1600 block of Robin Street. He was dispatched
to the same call three times, total. On his 3rd arrival at the scene,
Officer Stowe was ambushed by three suspects. He
was seriously beaten with a metal pipe and a 2"x 4" piece
of wood. In the beating, he sustained injuries to his back and abdomen.
As a result of these injuries, Officer Stowes health deteriorated
over the course of the next 14 years. Upon his death, it was the
ruling of the Harris County Medical Examiner that Officer Stowe
had died as a result of the injuries he had sustained while on duty
in this incident.
