Officer Jose A. Zamarron was talking to two citizens who were involved in a minor accident in the 12,700 block of Market Street. A vehicle driven by Jerre Ann Williams, who appeared to be intoxicated, struck the officer. Officer Zamarron died at the scene. Williams was convicted of Involuntary Manslaughter and received a 3 year sentence.
